Red Sox vs Yankees
Red Sox vs Yankees?
I have given in to office pressure and am writing a blog on life within the storied Yankees vs Red Sox rivalry but lived outside the stadiums. Cheshire, CT is where I grew up and still live. 48 years and I can say without reservation that baseball season makes for lively workdays, dinners and evenings in and out of the restaurants in Cheshire. I always felt that Cheshire, CT had more Yankee fans than Red Sox fans, however, now I think the split is fairly even.
Mason Dixon line for American League East-quite possibly.
Drescher Insurance competes very well against national insurance companies like Geico, Nationwide, Amica and Allstate. Our hit ratio against these competitors would easily get us into the hall of fame. However, no competition gets the office staff more energized than any discussion of Red Sox vs Yankees.
As of last night, another sweep by the Red Sox has now caused Lynn and Kelly to use only references to Yankee past glory like the 26 championships to combat this years results against the Sox. One of our favorite clients, Doug Johnson, is a die hard Sox fan with a southern accent and he regulary trades barbs and shenanigans with Lynn and Kelly. (No really, it takes a few minutes to realize Doug, with his accent, really is a fan of the Sox and spent time in Massachusetts.) Sox have no reasonable response to that claim about number of championships other than: How about last night, last series or do you need a broom?
Oh well, as anyone who has come into my office knows, I'm a Red Sox fan and when the last out was made in 2004 I jumped up and dented the ceiling in my living room cheering.
It's all a great part of living in Central Connecticut. Just go out to any restaurant or bar during a mid-season series and you'll find an ally no matter which team you are rooting for. As for me: GO SOX!
